Byzantinische Epigramme auf Stein
註釋"The epigram as a genre was highly appreciated in Byzantium. A considerable number of epigrams is still preserved in situ as inscriptions. Their analysis is the aim of the four planned volumes of the project 'Byzantinische Epigramme in inschriftlicher Überlieferung.' The present third volume treats more than 300 such epigrams from 600 AD to 1500 AD that are preserved on stone. The main part of the book consists of critical editions of the epigrams, their German translation, as well as a commentary focusing on philological, linguistical and historical matters; palaeographic questions also are treated. Images of almost all epigrams are presented in the tables [i.e. illustrative plates]. As in earlier volumes, this third volume of the series also stresses the omnipresence of inscriptional epigrams in Byzantium and highlights the long neglected significance of inscriptions for Byzantine society."--
