註釋Racial discrimination in the lending of housing mortgages has been an important social issue in this country for the latter half of this century. Redlining, for example, the notion that banks place a theoretical red line neighborhood in which no money will be lent, has received coverage for decades. Many of the redlined neighborhoods were predominately racial minority residents. The Community REinvestment act was designed to address the problem of redlining. Which defined standards for banks in regards to lending in different neighborhoods; since then, the CRA as well as the Equal Credit Opportunity Act and the Home Mortgage Discrimination Act, illegal discrimination has been expanded to refer to racial discrimination generally.
