The suburbs of west London, early 1980s. Schoolboy Nick Adams falls under the spell of the charismatic Jaden, leader of a group of self-styled vampires known as The Underground.

Fifteen years later, Nick is approaching thirty, disillusioned with his superficially perfect existence and increasingly obsessed with recapturing the lost idealism and glory of his youth. On the surface he still appears to be a healthy, well-adjusted consumer citizen, underneath he is aware that his bloodlust is once again becoming irresistible.

As his life and his sanity rapidly collapse, he relives the events which led to the brutal killing of his friend's parents-murders in which his involvement was never suspected.

Desperate to exorcise the memories which torment him, Nick seeks out the other members of The Underground. Delving ever deeper into the past, his grasp upon the present becomes perilously tenuous as he gets ever closer to discovering the sinister truth about the vampires of suburbia.
