註釋"The United States has experienced, since the mid-60's, a new wave of immigration comparable in importance to the mass migration of the turn of the century. It is a significant population influx which, as its predecessor, will shape the character of the country in the future. However, the more recent arrivals are very different from the "huddled masses" who came to this country in the early part of this century and the society receiving them has also undergone significant transformations. Yet, images of immigrants and the concepts used to evoke their encounter with the new environment have remained very much the same.
