"Designs from Fancy"
註釋George Romney (1734-1802) has long been recognized as a major British artist. Highly successful as a portrait painter, he also produced vast numbers of sketches for paintings on Shakespearean subjects. Opening himself up to chance effects and letting his ideas well up from within, Romney fixed on the page the fleeting impressions of an instant.

"Designs from Fancy" features 116 drawings as well as a number of paintings from a broad segment of Romney's career. Yvonne Romney Dixon examines Romney's artistic personality and draws new attention to the vitality and appeal of the artist's graphic work.
