註釋This book is the first of five volumes dedicated to the archaeological excavations on Mount Gerizim, which began in the early 1980s and continue to this day. Over four hundred Aramaic, Hebrew and Samaritan inscriptions were found during the excavations conducted in the Hellenistic city of Mount Gerizim and its sacred precinct. The large number of inscriptions is unprecedented and unique, with no archaeological parallel in the rest of Israel. The publication of these inscriptions will provide an important contribution to understanding the development of the written letter and will shed new light on the history of the Samaritans in the Second Temple period.
