Phoenix Rising... from the Ashes Warriors Are Born
註釋One of the greatest gifts a poet has is the ability to take pain, sorrow and personal suffering and transform it into a work of beauty. My friend Ann Carruth Donoghue has that gift. Few poets I know can work this miraculous transformation as she can. Ann is truly the phoenix risen from the ashes. Her poetry has been one of the tools she has used to accomplish this marvelous resurrection. I have had the pleasure of watching this growth and development. In less than two years I have watched her go from a beginner struggling to express her feelings and emotions in simple abab rhymes, to a master weaver of verbal tapestries filled with vibrant images of life, love and the process of renewal. Hard to believe she left school at the tender age of fifteen. Ann is a lovely Irish lass who brings to her work all the charm, wit and lyric expression that is part of the great Celtic tradition. A single working mother, she is devoted to her children, her family, her mother country and to her poetry. I am honoured to present my dear friend a poet I greatly admire, Ms Ann Carruth Donoghue.
