The millions who live there call it Civilization. It's both a nation and a megastructure where they live peaceful and productive lives. Where The Lord Protector watches over them. Where they are free from vices like lust, gluttony, and family.
Eric XXII is a model citizen. So he's shocked when, one day, he's kidnapped by a secret society and shown that his world is not all as it seems—and that he has powers beyond those of a normal human.
As he tries to sort out the truths from the lies, he's thrust into a war of survival between this tiny sect of superhuman, true-believers and the unlimited juggernaut of Civilization itself. If that weren't enough, Eric discovers romantic feelings for the first time. For Bria. She's brilliant. She's irresistible. And she's taken... by the deadliest insurgent of all.
Insurgents of Civilization was the first novel written by author Richard L. Sanders (The Phoenix Conspiracy) and it and its sequel, Insurgents of Wasteland, were completed in 2004, when the author was only 17 years old.
