註釋
The Operation Kapuskasing area lies mainly within the District of Cochrane, with the southwest corner in the District of Algoma, and has an areal extent of 28,000 sq miles. This report presents the results of a survey conducted from 15 May-15 September 1966, the first of a series of large scale helicopter reconnaissance surveys undertaken. Mapping was done by pace-and-compass traverses, canoe reconnaissance, and helicopter reconnaissance. Field work was plotted on one mile to one inch air photographs and transferred to two mile to one inch base maps for preliminary publication. All previous geological mapping was verified before being plotted on the present maps. The report describes the location and access of the area and the topography and natural resources; the general and structural geology, with regional geophysical data; and the economic geology. The possibility of industrial minerals is also discussed.
