There is an unnamed mountain valley twenty miles northeast of Shaozhou in Lingnan. The mountain valley is surrounded on all sides by mountains. Even the only narrow entrance in front of the mountain valley has a low mountain blocking it. Only after climbing over can one suddenly discover a fairyland inside.
In the third year of the Han Han era of the Tang Dynasty, eleven families with a total of more than a hundred people were suddenly sent by the government to this secret mountain valley to reclaim land, clear grass, cut down forests, and build houses. Within a few days, a small village was built, named Taoyuan Village.
Because of the secret location of Taoyuan Village, the people in the village rarely interacted with the surrounding mountain people. The residents of the village were mostly elegant and polite people who understood etiquette. Although they also worked hard plowing, planting, weaving, and weaving, they could often hear the sound of people reading books, and sometimes the sound of zithers and flutes coming from the village.
