Harold E. White Papers
註釋The Harold E. White papers consist of a manuscript entitled Iron from the Forest: The Early Iron Industry of the Valley of the Slippery Rock, which was written in 1961with the help of his wife, Stella. The manuscript contains historical information about the blast furnaces of Western Pennsylvania. White provides details about blast furnaces located in Lawrence County, Butler County, Beaver County, Mercer County, Venango County, and Clarion County. White also includes information about the railroads in these areas as well as the furnace operators and provides lists of blast furnaces by county that includes the location and builders from 1716-1800. The manuscript also includes the correspondence of White, journal articles detailing steel manufacturing, and a handbook for Hopewell Village, a National Historic Site of the Colonial iron industry in Pennsylvania. Included in the manuscript are several photographs of various blast furnaces as well as printed and hand drawn maps of each county and diagrams of blast furnaces. A short biography of Harold White, written by friend Preston Meridian, is included.
