註釋Presents the results of a project which began in 1996, when eight high-school students in Hochneukirch decided to study the fate of the Jews in their town, based on archival material and an interview with an eyewitness. Contains information, accompanied by documents and photographs, on the history of the Jewish community in Hochneukirch (from the 18th century) and on events during the Holocaust. Pp. 43-47 present the memoirs of Manfred Leven, who was deported to Theresienstadt and Auschwitz; he was liberated in Gleiwitz (he was then 14 years old). Pp. 64-144 trace the fate of members of the extended Falkenstein family, before and during the Holocaust. Contains, also, brief biographies of the Meyer, Rolef, and Blech families. 26 Jewish residents managed to emigrate. 19 Jews were deported to Riga in December 1941 and eight to Theresienstadt in July 1942; 14 others were deported to Minsk and to concentration camps in Poland.
