註釋This journal by acclaimed film composer, Charles Roland Berry, takes us on a journey across his entire lifetime as an artist and composer. We read of pivotal events from the 1980s and 1990s, which shaped his career. These include interactions with poets, William Stafford, W.S. Merwin, Naomi Shihab Nye and Marvin Bell, as well as composers John Cage, Ned Rorem, Benjamin Lees, Karel Husa, and iconic film composer, Alex North.Holding nothing back, we find entries with details of his work as an erotic filmmaker, and incidents from his life as an elderly gentleman, surrounded by beautiful, friendly, cheerful and willing naked young women. We discover his philosophic view of art, both in the erotic films and in his music compositions. Both art and sex can be religious actions, when springing from, or leading to Oneness. There is much discussion of Oneness, and the God Inside. Few journals and diaries of mature artists are as articulate, thorough, and wonderfully entertaining as this one. Charles Roland Berry is a unique literary voice as well as a unique musical voice.- The Paris Review, 2021
