This book explains the three primary factors that contribute to oil occurrences. Organized into 11 chapters, this volume starts with an overview of the quantitative methods of reconstructing the burial history of sedimentary material in basins. This text then explores the problem of quantitative reconstruction of the thermal history of sedimentary basins based on both inversion of thermal indicator data and on model-derived heat fluxes.
