Research Investigation of Two-component Heat Transfer
註釋A study was made of the hydrodynamics and heat transfer of a two-component stream, 5 to 15% water droplets in air, flowing over a heated, vertical cylinder. In all cases examined, a liquid film formed on the cylinder forward surface; under some conditions water droplets bounced from the surface upon striking it. Hydrodynamic behavior was visually observed and documented by high-speed movies. Heat transfer data were taken at various stations around the cylinder with both simple air flow and the twocomponent flow. Analysis indicated much greater heat transfer rates with two-component flow and the experimental data bore this out, yielding an intensification in heat transfer coefficient to 2.5 to 9 times. Semiquantitative explanation was afforded by a simple liquid film cooling model, but allowance for evaporative cooling would improve the explanation. When droplets bounced from the surface, intensifications up to 20 times were observed, but this condition was too complex for interpretation within the subject program. (Author).
