註釋
One Item, signed letter, 9 November 1758, Savannah, to William Vernon, relating his "disagreeable passage" from Charleston, South Carolina, to Savannah, Georgia, reporting on the market and the good demand for northern items, listing current prices, speculating a lessened demand due to the arrival of a schooner from N.Y., settling an account with Mr. Banbury, and giving an optimistic report on the market for enslaved Africans. Sam Sanford was the nephew of William Vernon, a successful merchant from Newport, Rhode Island, who actively involved in the transatlantic trade in rum, molasses, and enslaved Africans.
