Besalú, vida i organització d'una juderia
註釋Traces the history and organization of Jewish life in the medieval town of Besalú, in Catalonia. Pp. 67-87 deal with Jewish-Christian relations, which badly deteriorated in the 15th century when accusations of deicide, host profanation, and ritual murder increased. There were no violent incidents in Besalu, but the general anti-Jewish climate, the echoes of the disputation of Tortosa (1413-14), and the papal bull of October 1415 contributed to the dissolution of the local Jewish community (ca. 300 persons). A ghetto was instituted in Besalú, and many Jews opted to convert rather than live in segregation. After 1436 there is no more mention of Jews in the town.
