George Bernard Knight and Herbert Augustine Knight served in the Otago Infantry Battalion and William Douglas Knight served with the Auckland Infantry Battalion during World War One. They were all killed in action, Herbert at Gallipoli and William and George in France. George Bernard Knight's diaries contain brief entries outlining his experiences while on active service with the Otago Infantry Battalion at Gallipoli and in France.
