A Most Outrageous Deed
註釋"From the beginning of our quest to tell our families stories, in July 2018, we have striven to keep them short, to not overwhelm the reader with too many stories at one time. Consequently, we have tried to write papers that could be read in about thirty minutes, which is why some of them have been split into two parts. This is also why Burrell Claunch's life story has been spread across four such papers,' this being the fourth. This last part of his story recounts the events surrounding Burrell Claunch's 1880 trial for murder, events which have taken nearly thirty years to research. It is a complicated story and really must be told in a single paper. But since the story involves so many people and events, this paper - of necessity - will be significantly longer than the other papers in this series. We have attempted to clarify these events, but there are still many questions remaining. A table at the end of this paper lists these events and those involved. It has taken a long time to get here, but this is the story that inspired this series of family history papers. As in past papers, we include birth and death dates, when known, and denote those who are our direct ancestors with text highlighted in gray." --Preface.
