"Various techniques for the staining and mounting of protozoans as permanent slides were studied in order to find a practical method for the preparation of a reference collection of protozoan specimens at Northern Michigan College. The method of Dobell using an alcoholic hematein stain was found to work well with flagellates and testacea. This method is recommended from the standpoint of involving a small number of steps in the procedure, using small amounts of reagents, and preparing slides of high quality."--Page 1.
