William Bailey (b.ca.1579) and his family immigrated from England to Jamestown, Virginia in 1620. One of his sons, Thomas Bailey (ca.1616-1675), moved from Virginia to New London, Connecticut in 1655, and married Lydia Redfield. Descendants lived in New England, New York and elsewhere.
