In the thirty-eighth year of the reign of King Henry 8th a grant was issued from the King to Ralph Stepney, in exhange for his property by the Thames river, of the manor of Aldenham, in the parish of that name, in Hertfordshire. After about forty years Alban Stepney sold the manor and moved to Pembrokeshire, Wales and founded the Welsh family of Stepney.
