Supplementing Literature Programs
註釋

This unique compilation offers the public librarian, the library media specialist, and the teacher a literary analysis of selected titles to supplement literature programs. The selection represents titles of above-average literary value for upper elementary, junior high, high school and beyond. The emphasis is on analysis and appreciation.

The general body of work covers contemporary fiction; other parts include unique titles, novels to teach, video views of literature and society, and significant older titles that deserve another look. The analysis of each title offers a complete plot summary, suggested themes, significant quotes, interest/maturity level, evaluation, suggested use, and book review citations. In the "Novels to Teach" section, the authors also include reasons and suggestions for teaching particular novels, essay questions with suggested answers; glances at characters; and extensive study options.

The goal is to change and enrich lives in the quest for literary literacy-to go beyond a superficial reading of the book for a deeper look between the lines-to encourage students to question, understand, and respond.
