The monograph presents original researches of the horizontal and vertical circulation of waters and partial water transfer. The studies are based on the processing and analysis of an extensive amount of materials. The planning of researches, collection, processing and the analysis of materials were largely connected with the International Geophysical Year. The work is divided into four parts. The first part analyses the results of study of the geostrophic circulation in the upper thousand-meters layer of water on the whole aquatory of the ocean. In the second part of the book this trend of researches is continued on the example of the frontal zone of the Gulf Stream. The third part describes the study of the meridional and vertical circulation of waters of the northern part of the Atlantic Ocean. The fourth part is dedicated to the intermediate Mediterranean waters.
