註釋Approximately 700 kilotonnes of styrene are produced annually in Canada, of which nearly two-thirds are exported. Styrene is used domestically in the production of a number of polymers and resins. This report gives a summary of information critical to its assessment as toxic, including its identity, properties, production, and uses; its entry into the environment; its kinetics and metabolism; and exposure-related and effects-related information. An assessment of its toxic effects under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act relates to the environment, the environment on which human life depends, and human life or health.
