Tory Blues
註釋This book charts the history of the Conservative Party through political cartoons from Benjamin Disraeli to David Cameron. Chapters presenting cartoons chronologically are supported by summaries of political history including work by Tenniel, Carruthers Gould, Low, Vicky, Cummings, Bell Brookes and Garland amongst many others. The first chapter reviews the changing style and the possible impact of cartoons and the relationship between cartoonists and press barons especially Lords Beaverbrook and Rothermere in the 1930s. Wholly new insights appear which review the use of cartoons in biography and autobiography, and in addition ten former Conservative Ministers give their view on cartoons.
