註釋The first hydroelectric tidal power generating station in Canada has been constructed on the estuary of the Annapolis River, NovaScotia. To assess the future impact of turbine passage onanadromous fish populations, baseline biological data wereobtained from the adult spawning population of American shadduring 1981 and 1982. A total of 8371 shad were captured and7894 marked and released. This study was designed to 1.determine biological characteristics of the pre-operational adultshad spawning run; 2. estimate size of the annual spawning run;3. determine shad migration patterns and rates of movement aroundthe tidal dam, within the river, and at sea; 4. documentinjuries to shad associated with presnet tidal dam and fishwayconditions.
