"Adeline Craig, home from college for her Easter vacation, finds that her father's bank has failed and the Craig fortune is gone. Adeline - or Andy as she was called at college - sets out to find a job. Through Judge True, an old friend of her father's, she gets a position as director of publicity for the Institute for the Handicapped, a charitable organization where the lame, the disabled and the blind are cared for, treated, and trained for useful occupations. Her job is to a large extent dependent on her ability to raise funds. But times are bad and money exceedingly scare. She meets Kim Roundtree, a well-known columnist on one of the newspapers, and falls in love with him. He becomes interested in her charity and through Andy meets Regina True, a débutante who was one of her collegemates. Regina who is rich, languorous, and beautiful is drawn to the brilliant and unpredictable Kim. It is in a colorful setting that swings back and forth like a shuttle from the Institute for the Handicapped with its human interest and its heart throbs, to the newspaper office with its clanging presses and its finger on the pulse of the world, that Andy works out her destiny to a satisfying conclusion."--Page 1.
