Population Ecology Studies of the Polar Bear in Northern Labrador
註釋Reports results of research conducted along the northern Labrador coast regarding polar bear populations and their ecology, with a view toward developing a more effective management plan for the bears in that area. In spring 1976-79, the investigators captured and tagged polar bears, and also recorded data from bears killed by hunters and recaptured bears. Results presented relate to bear population distribution, movements, maternity denning, litter size and productivity, age structure and mortality rates, and population size. Implications for polar bear management and possible effects on bear populations of offshore drilling in the study area are discussed.
