The Bible in Church and Synagogue Libraries
註釋The first chapter of this guide, which is intended to help congregational librarians find ways to use the Bible in their programs, provides background on the books and themes of the Bible. Various versions of the English Bible are discussed in the second chapter, and suggestions for studying the Bible and a Bible reading plan are offered in the third. Library tools for Bible study--concordances, dictionaries, commentaries, books about the Bible, and other resources--are described in the fourth chapter, and the fifth covers Bible societies and organizations as well as Bible study opportunities. The final chapter suggests several ways to promote use of the Bible: (1) supplementary materials; (2) exhibits and displays; (3) National Bible Week; (4) Bible materials for distribution; (5) non-book materials for the library; (6) planting a Biblical garden; and (7) Bibles for the reading-impaired. The guide concludes with quotations on the Bible from three prominent religious leaders. (MES)
