This report provides a design and structural analysis for a residential building that is composed of 18 stories, two basements and top roof. Both designing and analysis processes have dealt with different structural components. The structural elements that are covered in this project include shear wall, column, two-way slab, stair case and footing. Different software packages have been used in analyzing the building structural elements such as REVIT, ETABS, SAIF and CSI Column. The results obtained from these programs have been compared with hand calculations and checked according to the codes requirements. All the hand calculations are included in the structural elements related sections. Results of data analyzed show that the building structural elements are satisfactory in terms of lateral resistance, flexural and shear strengths. The report also finds that the reinforcements provided for the designed structural elements have satisfied the codes requirements for the minimumreinforcement areas.Working on this added a lot to our background of structural design andanalysis. It gave us the opportunity to deal with different methods in terms ofanalysis. Besides that our reading skills of the building codes has been improveduch as the ACI, IBC, ASCE and the SI as well as acquiring the skills of writing chnical paper. Additionally, we got the chance to learn using important engineering ftware packages that are commonly used. Finally, the project has offered the ince to experience team working, co-operation, exchanging information and King creatively.
