Letter written by Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles to his cousin, the Reverend Dr. Thomas Raffles on his voyage to Calcutta from Benkulen in October-November 1819. In his letter, Raffles made an appeal for the support of an institution he was about to form for educating the higher class of natives.
