The Stories Behind the Wartime Plane Crashes on Hull
註釋During the Second World War, the people of Hull suffered extensive hostile bombing from the Luftwaffe. Throughout those periods of the Blitz, it is understandable that they would have been pre-occupied with their own safety and survival. Little concern or attention was paid to the occurrences of aircraft falling on their City. Nevertheless, built-up areas to the north, east and west all experienced such incidents. These events, overlooked at the time, have almost been totally forgotten despite them representing an important part of Hull's wartime history. However, following extensive research, it is now possible, belatedly, to bring to the public's attention these amazing stories of fortitude and individual bravery. This book should appeal to, not just aviation enthusiasts, but to anyone interested in the wartime history of our City with further examples of how those local civilians quickly overcame the disasters that befell them and, uncomplainingly, got on with their lives. Whilst at the same time, we are not forgetting these previously untold stories of the courage and heroic sacrifice made by some wartime aircrew.
