註釋
This book, set principally in Bordeaux, starts with a rapacious New York conglomerate exiling a too pushy young executive to France to find and buy a prestigious wine chateau. The executive, his career derailed, wants only to get back to New York, but he falls in love both with a chateau owner's strong willed daughter, and with the somber beauty of the wine country itself. All this is combined with enormous and fascinating lore about how the great wines are made, even as a tenacious Fraud Brigade detective tries to prove that an isolated chateau is turning out fraudulent wines. It is full of tension. Will the fraud be exposed? Will the grapes be brought in before storms ruin the harvest? What will happen to the young executive?
