註釋
From the various ceramic and cermet materials available, hot-pressed Al2O3, hot-pressed SiCAND K163B1 TiC cermet were selected for study on the basis of their desirable physical properties. Three types of wear and screening tests were carried out on these materials in combination with themselves and with each other (a total of 6 combinations). On the basis of the screening tests, 2 combinations, K163B1 cermet against itself and K163B1 cermet against hot-pressed Al2O3, were selected for full-scale bearing tests. Ten full-scale ball bearing tests were performed at 1000 F., using 2 bearing designs. Some of the tests were made without lubricants and some with metal-free phthalocyanine or MoS2. One fullscale test was made at 1500 F. with MoS2 in an inert atmosphere. While life of the non-lubricated bearings was short, some of the lubricated bearings operated successfully at the above temperatures for 8 to 28 hr under moderately severe conditions of speed and unit load.
