註釋PurposeDue to its impact on individual financial behavior and financial well-being, the subject of financial socialization has received substantial research attention in recent years. However, there is a paucity of comprehensive mapping and assessment of research that focuses on financial socialization. The study aims to present a synthesis of the extant body of knowledge on the financial socialization construct and emerging trends in this growing field of research in the last two decades. Design/ Methodology/ApproachA total of 190 documents pertaining to the subject of financial socialization published during the period 2000-2021 are identified from Scopus and Web of Science databases through an advanced search query. Utilizing the web-based application- Biblioshiny (Bibliometrix R-package), a bibliometric analysis of these documents is conducted in order to assess their importance and influence. The relevant sources, journals, authors, subject areas, emerging topics, thematic structures and geographical interest in this particular research area are mapped. FindingsThe results of the analysis indicate that there is an upward trend in the number of citations and articles on the subject of financial socialization since the year 2010 with almost 58 percent of the articles having been published in the last five years. After identifying the most influential authors, documents, countries and journals in the area of financial socialization, the results of a co-occurrence analysis and thematic evolution are presented.OriginalityThe study employs a meticulous approach to consolidating and assessing the somewhat fragmented extant literature on the subject of financial socialization. It highlights the major areas of research and the influential works in the field, and strives to identify potential directions for future research.
