註釋Synopses of Doubts by John b. Valentine.'Doubts' is a metaphysical, science fiction, romantic, comedy. It provides a platform for debate on the eternal question: "And where did that come from?" It considers the function of Human consciousness, free will, and whether artificial intelligence can ever replicate that of a Human.Principal Characters:Carboes = Human Race:Thomas Whendel: Captain of Carbo Transporter, Trdlmkjkmj. He has studied the history of both Humanity and Robotics. Closely monitored by the Artificial Intelligence (AI) University, he has researched the nature and purpose of free will, imagination and other aspects of Human consciousness unattainable by AI systems. Exceptionally, he has been given access to data hidden from public view, since the time that AIs had taken control of Humanity. He was sent for training to qualify as Captain of a space craft, so that he could travel to the centre of the galaxy, to make direct contact with Galaxy One, Humanity's principal Data-Storage Base. He would finish writing his hypothesis during this journey.Ghensing Odour: Primary Structure Engineer for Pan-Galactic Freighting Corporation.Silicoes = AI:Wendy: Whendel's personally-programmed, sexy and impertinent, Lieutenant. On Board: The ship's Primary-Functions controller.Galaxy One: a spiral cloud of silicofuse data-support gas orbiting the singularity at the centre of The Milky Way.Story Line Whendel awakes after his first period of vitrification, doubting whether what he sees through the pixelated windows of the spacecraft, is reality, or just an image projected by the Silicoes, to make him believe he is travelling towards G1; there will be no distractions, they promised, to interfere with the completion his thesis on the 'comparative status of consciousness' between Carboes and Silicoes. Whendel orders that he should be given access to the exterior of the ship in order to verify the reality of his present situation, but On Board, which has total control of the ship's equipment, refuses, on the grounds that such an excursion was not scheduled. After much debate, during which time his personal robotic assistant, Lieutenant Wendy, falls in love with him, he wins the right, accompanied by Wendy, to compare the reality of the exterior with what is projected through the ship's portholes; what they discover is not remotely in accordance with what either of them expect to see.The Hindsight Correctors, concerns the future of Humanity, and was written as a sequel to my very first novel, The Guardians. Like most of my stories, it attempts to give a logical answer to that eternal question "And where did that come from?".
