註釋This document aims to contribute to the dialogue among those who are attempting to develop a better understanding of the crucial functions that linguistic discourse performs in educational activities. Outlines an approach to the analysis of classroom discourse that applies some key concepts from systemic linguistics within a framework of activity derived from sociocultural theory. Uses this framework to explore the significance of selected episodes from recorded observations made over the course of a 6 week unit of science in a class of 9 and 10 year olds. Results are presented.
