註釋Johann Heinrich Ahlers was born 17 May 1818 in Visbek, Oldeburg, Germany. His parents were Johann Hermann Ahlers and Maria Elizabeth Nemann. He married Maria A. Heilman (1828-1900), daughter of Bernard Heilman and Anna Marie Heilman, in 1845 in Cincinnati, Ohio. They had eight children. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Ohio and Illinois.
