註釋
"The collection of old musical instruments of the Kunst-historisches Museum in Vienna has a major part of the world-wide preserved musical instruments of the Renaissance and early Baroque periods. Many of these instruments are today among the most wanted models for replicas that are played in the early music. Above all, the early wind instruments provide an important source of information that leads to better performance practice and opens up knowledge of Renaissance instrument-making technologies. As part of an extensive research project, the cornett and the serpent were measured by means of industrial 3D-CT techniques. This new survey method offered great advantages due to the possibility of a three-dimensional representation and the exact geometric measurement of non-visible zones of the fragile historical instruments. The algorithmic data evaluation developed as part of this research project now provides information for a highly accurate picture of the object, providing an unprecedented, highly useful guideline for replication and a foundation for further investigation. The extensive catalog section of the volume is developed with contributions that are in-depth in terms of performance, historical, organological and surveying topics. These essays provide information for the interpretation of survey data and provide background knowledge from various scientific and artistic perspectives"--
