Connecting Innovative Geothermal Food Production with Tourism
註釋Geothermal energy and tourism have long been intertwined in the case of swimming, bathing and balneology tourism products. In the Geofood project, we are trying to present an innovative combination of tourism and new business model of food producers who are using geothermal energy for hydroponic plant production in greenhouses. We base our research on six organizations from Slovenia, The Netherlands and Iceland. Their innovative business model is grounded on experiences and as such, transformed into industrial tourism offer. Geothermal resources can become a tourist attraction and add value to the production process itself. Meanwhile, industrial tourism overcomes the effects of seasonality and is strongly oriented towards sustainable practices.
