註釋"What they said... What many believe to be the greatest single achievement in constructive writing ever done in Kansas, possibly the United States, was performed by Victor Murdock. In less than 14 years he wrote a series of articles in THE WICHITA EAGLE which totaled more than 3,500,000 words. He wrote of people, of events past and present and a series of articles disclosing the kinship of the cereal wheat with civilization of today. This series is regarded by many distinguished scholars of Victor Murdock at his best with thought and word. This stint of writing for Murdock came following his resignation from the Federal Trade Commission. He had labored in politics for reforms, for the defeat of bossism in Congress, for the curbing of monopolies and had assisted in the development of legislation which created the Federal Trade Commission. he served as member and chairman of this commission and in 1924 decided to close his political career and go back to his first love, writing.
