Duty of Mercy and the Sin of Cruelty (1776)
註釋A reprint of one of the earliest full-scale theological defences of animals, first published in 1776. It argues that justice and mercy must extend to all sentient beings, and that the exercise of mercy is a primary Christian duty. The arguments used echo the language of modern animal rights theory.
