註釋
This research has demonstrated that several types of biologicalcompounds, including polymers, surfactants and enzymes, cansignificantly enhance the mechanical de-watering of fuel-gradepeat. The most promising compounds tested were chitosan andsurfactin. Chitosan is a polysaccharide which contains amino-sugars. Surfactin is a surfactant synthesized by Bacillussubtilis which causes extreme lowering of the surface tension ofwater, to 27 mN/m.
