註釋OUVERTURE IN RE MINOREThe Ouverture in Re Minore was probably composed between 1890/92 and is first performance was the 5th and 6th of June 1892 at Teatro Niccolò Piccinni in Bari, Italy. This music -SINGLE INSTRUMENTS score - was revised and edited in 2021.The composer Niccolò van Westerhout was born in Mola Di Bari, a township located in the province of Bari, Italy, on December 17, 1857 and died in Naples in 1898.During his short life, Niccolò van Westerhout composed the following operas:?TILDE, which was never performed and had its score presumably lost?CIMBELINO, premiered at the Teatro Argentina in Rome, in 1892;?FORTUNIO, this opera was supposed to premiere at the world-renowned Teatro alla Scala, but as a result of a series of unfortunate events, that did not occur, and it was performed instead for the first time at the Teatro Lirico in Milan, in 1895;?DOÑA FLOR, commissioned by the Township of Mola Di Bari, and staged in the local Opera Theater in 1896, also in New York in 2010.?COLOMBA, represented posthumously, in 1925, at Teatro San Carlo in Naples.The Insonni [literally, the Insomniacs] -a collection of eleven pieces, supposedly composed at nighttime between 1891 and 1893, and published posthumously in 1915 by Ricordi, stand out for their excellence and uniqueness.Niccolò van Westerhout also composed various piano concerts, two symphonies, and as it was the custom of the time, various Lyrics. Although some musicologists place van Westerhout among the Decadent Period musicians, it is quite difficult to place his style within the landscape of the appreciation of Italian instrumental music prevailing at the end of the Nineteenth century.
