The first Hebb in America, according to the author's research, was William G. Hebb (1816-1858), born in Leven, Yorkshire, England; married to Mary Edwards of Siggleston, Yorkshire; immigrant to Canada in 1838; resident of Cambridge, Vermont from 1841 until his death. William descended from Christopher Hebb (ca. 1724-1798), who married Ann Maxfield (1726-1820) in 1751 in Catwick, Yorkshire, Hebbs descendants are now found throughout New England.
