註釋Holocaust remembrance was one of the most influential factors which shaped the individual, radical, and Jewish identity of Jewish radicals in France in the 1960s-70s. Many of them were Holocaust survivors or offspring of survivors. These Jewish radicals reflected a specific Jewish-universal memory of the Holocaust. Although they recognized the uniqueness of the Jewish experience of the Holocaust, their perceptions went beyond the Jewish aspect. It was the incentive for their identification with victims of oppression and injustice in general, and victims of racism, fascism, and antisemitism in particular. The Holocaust memory of the Jewish radicals also influenced French collective memory regarding World War II, the Nazi occupation of France, French resistance groups, and the attitude in France toward collaborators. It had, as well, an impact on the Jewish radicals' attitude toward the State of Israel, often extremely leftist. Since Holocaust memory has become an important factor in Jewish identity, it is necessary to shape a collective Holocaust memory which combines the Jewish-universal and Jewish-Zionist aspects.
