註釋
"The Donald (patriots.win) is a virtual set space and online forum for members to congregate and interact with other members through their shared unconditional support for Donald Trump. Right-wing extremism is a common topic of discussion and scholarship in society, yet not much direct research exists on the prominent strategies, themes, and expressions of belief that participants employ regularly on the forum. Utilizing a method called digital ethnographic content analysis which combines qualitative content analysis and online participant observation, research was conducted using a sampling frame of the top 100 most upvoted posts on this forum of all time as of October 23, 2022. This research uses purposive sampling to code for various expressions of belief that convey themes of collective identity in general, expressions of distrust that strengthen collective identity, and displays of iconography using Zotero. In the findings, I address some of the specific expressions of these themes used on the forum that effectively maintain collective identity. I then provide analysis, revealing how findings of particular expressions within these themes sustain collective identity and are significant to the context of The Donald's political culture while contributing insight into the relevance of The Donald's functioning as an echo chamber. This is important in both scholarly and social contexts as collective identity is being continually built in this virtual set space that allows their culture and separate reality to flourish uncontested"--Leaf 1.
