Fannie A. Fain Diaries
註釋Photocopies of two handwritten diaries and a photocopy of a typewritten transcription of one of the diaries. The first diary dates from Nov. 26, 1863, through March 19, 1865, and gives a glimpse of daily life in Upper East Tennessee during the Civil War. During this time, Fannie Fain's husband left home for a period of at least 15 months to avoid military conscription. The second diary covers a span of 30 years, focusing on three major phases of her life with long periods of silence between entries. The entries concern her husband's success in his store and the birth of her fifth child Mamie, the death of her husband, and events surrounding the death of her daughter Mamie. It concludes with an overview of her faith and a list of Scriptures.
