FDI Inflows and Economic Growth in Africa: a Panel Data Investigation
註釋Since most of the existing literature studying the relationship between FDI inflows and economic growth focused more on developed countries, this master thesis decided to analyse said relationship at the example of the ten African countries: Algeria, Cameroon, Cote dIvoire, Egypt, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria, South Africa, Tunisia and Uganda. The literature not only showed inconclusive results concerning the relationship between FDI inflows and economic growth but also that this relationship can be indirect at times. This means that FDI inflows can correlate with economic growth by affecting its determinants. Therefore, this thesis identified several determinants of economic growth and analysed the relationship between them, FDI inflows and economic growth as well as the relationship between FDI inflows and economic growth. This analysis took place in a form of a panel data linear regression analysis of collected data for the years 1990 to 2015. The analysis of this thesis led to the conclusion that FDI inflows and economic growth have a strong positive correlation. Additionally, this masters thesis concluded that inflation and fertility are negatively correlated to economic growth. Furthermore, this thesis concluded that there is a positive correlation between life expectancy, human capital and terms of trade, and economic growth.*****Die vorhandene Literatur, welche die Auswirkungen von FDI-Zuflüssen auf das Wirtschaftswachstum untersucht, konzentriert sich vor allem auf entwickelte Länder.
